Praise God - surgery was successful!
Yesterday my mom had her surgery and it was successful! The doctor was able to remove 80% of the cancer cells and they believe that chemo will get the remaining 20%...my mom is a fighter and I know that God has a miracle in store here! It is going to be a tough road - but she has a lot of support to get her through this! There were two areas where cancer cells remain, on her diaphragm and her intestine...the diaphragm is shaped difficult so it was hard for her to get in there and then on her intestine it required removal of the intestine and doing a colostomy and she left that the risks were not worth the benefit. She was able to review the other organs and there were no cancer cells on them - so that is GREAT news!!
It was a rough night for my mom - her pain was self described as "off the charts" but she is being so strong through all this! Last night was a long night and my older brother was there with her. The doctor stopped by on her rounds and shared that mom is doing well but she wants her up and walking (you should have seen the look on my mom's face - if looks could kill) :-) BUT - she did it, she got up out of the bed and sat in a chair for 15 mins...progress!
The family is holding up...but we still need prayers to keep us strong, positive, and healthy!
