When challenging times hit!

Well, here I am again trying to pick up this "blogging" thing...I am going to be sending this link out to many people, so maybe that will help keep me accountable! But with a hubby and 3 kids...well, life happens. Life happening is why I am here today, writing! My mom, who is an amazing lady and someone we depend - not just for helping with the kids but we truly enjoy her company!! Well, she hasn't been feeling well the last couple of months and it finally got to the point where her doctor referred her to a specialist. Two weeks ago, after some initial testing, my mom called to share that her doctor "believes" she has cancer! What a blow - all I could do was cry but in the most convincing voice possible I told her we would FIGHT IT, if it was confirmed!

I took her for the biopsy on a Friday and by Monday the results were back - ovarian cancer! Again, all I could do was cry but keep the faith - she WILL overcome this! We were frustrated that she couldn't get into a specialist till the first of July, but they were also saying that was because her case wasn't that "dire"...a glimmer of hope! Mom decides to call Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center and was able to get in this past week! During this initial meeting her doctor has already reviewed the scans and reports already done...based on her initial exam and that information she gives us the bad news. The cancer had spread - she is at Stage III Ovarian Cancer! The doctor highly recommends she take the first surgical appt and then will need to continue with chemo treatment - since Ovarian Cancer is "silent" studies show without chemo IT WILL COME BACK! Her surgery next week will be aggressive, with the goal being to get all the cancer out...from her ovaries to her omentum and maybe part of her intestine! She will be in the hospital for 3 to 7 days. Her surgery is scheduled for July 1st and we need your prayers - for her, the doctors and staff, and the family! My goal - keep this blog updated for family and friends so that everyone has the latest information and mom can still get her rest. We all acknowledge the long road ahead and my mom is trying to stay strong but she is in pain; we look forward to the relief soon! We all thank you in advance for the prayers!!
