My moms side of the family got together last week - it was so much fun! We went to my grandparents, who own a place along the Yakima River in Cle Elum, WA...we slept in sleeping bags and the kids floated the river. It was great seeing aunts/uncles and cousins - all of whom I haven't seen in a long time. Since Monster was still in his cast it was tough, but we just said the heck with it and let him get it wet (it was his 2nd cast). On the way there we stopped at Mt St. Helens...what a site! I remember being a young girl when it blew (in 1980) and it was eye opening to see the movie re-living what happened that day and the kids were really into it!
My grandpa is in the later stages of alzheimer's, so that is really hard to handle when we visit - he's turned into a grumpy old man with the disease, and it's happened way too fast! My grandma is great and still cares for him - bless her heart! Even my brothers from AZ and TX came...it was truly a wonderful time, we feel so fortunate to have this wonderful time with family.
